Yes. Very. My Nana and Mom claim to have never even heard of it when they lived in Pennsylvania and then gotten it over and over when they moved to Key West. 

Most of the bigger public schools stopped doing checks when I was in middle school because it was just known that many people seemed to have it forever and it was like telling people they couldn’t come anymore if they had to be rid of all eggs to attend.

My best high school friend’s Dad owned/owns a pharmacy and was always warning her about the over the counter stuff doesn’t work down here anymore, etc. 

My reaction to lice tends to be, “Here we go again.”
