Anonymous asked: Do you still read aloud to each of your kids? How long does that take?

Yes, but not as often and regularly as I used to, because it takes FOREVER. Right now I’m reading Isaac a chapter of Harry Potter (30 minutes) on his own probably 3 nights a week, and Jake and Elise a chapter from Harry Potter probably 3 times per week (they’re at different points in the story, and Isaac desperately craves the one on one) - but I also help Isaac read picture books and things from his homework most weekdays (20-40 minutes), and Jake or Elise still bring me picture books to read them every day or two (10 minutes).

I’m reading Ananda and Aaron the Anne of Green Gables books, and Annie A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Sometimes I’ll just sit and read poetry to Aaron, because he really loves it and is always the last one to go to sleep. They probably get about an hour or so out of me total per week, which is partially because Ananda reads voraciously all the time, on her own and he reads a lot in his bed each night.
