The hospital I work for, NYU Langone Medical Center, has lost electricity and its backup generator has failed.  All patients are being evacuated as we speak.  Babies in the NICU and PICU are being manually kept alive by nurses who are walking down 9 flights of stairs.

And the hospital I work in EVERYDAY, Bellevue Hospital, has lost its power as well and its backup generator has two hours left before it goes completely dead.  On top of that, there’s a fire on the third floor of the Coney Island Hospital and patients and employees are trapped in that smoke right now because the FDNY cannot get in due to the water levels.

Shit, the NY hospitals are getting hit the hardest right now and all the patients and employees in need.  And still the fucking news is covering fallen tree branches instead.

My heart and thoughts go out to the ones in need, and everyone helping out on the scene.

I was just reading news stories about this, but the live blogging is even worse. I’m sitting here crying.
